Wix does not provide a complete export that recreates a Wix site as a WordPress website. The safe approach is to inventory and export available data, rebuild the design and functions in WordPress, preserve URLs where sensible and test the new site before switching the domain.

Create the WordPress target first
Set up current supported hosting, HTTPS, backups and staging. Choose a maintainable theme and reproduce reusable components before migrating every page. Keep the new site blocked from indexing until it is ready.
Preserve search signals
Crawl the Wix site, create an old-to-new URL map and keep important paths where possible. Add direct permanent redirects for changes, carry across useful titles and headings, and verify canonical and robots settings.
Test business functions
Submit every form, test emails, analytics, cookie controls, search, payments and mobile layouts. Compare product and order data if the site sells online. Do not switch the domain while critical failures remain.
Cut over and monitor
Reduce DNS TTL only if needed, make the final content sync, connect the domain, verify HTTPS and submit the new sitemap. Keep Wix available during the validation window and cancel only after redirects and data are confirmed.
A practical sequence for a small business
Rebuild one representative service page, one article, one form and one product before migrating the whole site. This exposes theme, plugin and data decisions while rollback remains simple. Once the pattern passes acceptance, migrate in batches and compare counts rather than copying pages without a completion record.
