Set ownership up safely

Use a Domain property where practical so protocols and subdomains are covered.
Verify through a business-controlled DNS account.
Give named users their own access rather than sharing one login.
Keep at least two trusted owners and review former agencies or employees.
Record the property name, verification method and responsible person.

A weekly routine for a small site

Check messages, security issues and unexpected indexing changes.
Review relevant queries and landing pages, not only total clicks.
Inspect newly published or materially changed URLs.
Compare Search Console with website enquiries, calls and bookings.
Record decisions and avoid repeated resubmission of unchanged pages.

What Search Console does not tell you

It does not measure every visit, explain every ranking change, validate the commercial quality of leads or replace server logs and website analytics. Use it with other evidence.

Readiness check

The setup is complete when a Domain property is verified, owners are documented, the sitemap can be read, key pages are inspectable and someone is responsible for reviewing alerts.

The most common weak point

Businesses commonly lose access because the only verified owner belongs to a former agency or employee. Another error is treating every indexing label as a fault and making broad changes without checking the intended URL state.
