Check eligibility before creating a profile

A Business Profile is for organisations that make in-person contact with customers during stated hours. Online-only businesses are not eligible. Service-area businesses should use a genuine operating location and hide the address when customers are not served there.

A practical sequence

Confirm profile eligibility and business ownership.
Use the real-world business name without added keywords.
Select the most accurate primary category and only relevant secondary categories.
Set a precise address or realistic service areas.
Publish service and location information on the website.
Create a review request and response process that does not offer incentives.
Measure enquiries and correct inconsistent details.

Avoid location-page inflation

Do not produce dozens of near-identical town pages where the business has no distinct evidence or useful local information. A smaller number of substantial pages is easier to maintain and more credible.

What good looks like

A local setup is ready when the profile and website agree, ownership is secure, hours and service areas are current, customer actions work and review handling has an owner.

Where businesses get caught out

Local work becomes risky when profile information is edited by several people without a master record. Old hours, duplicate profiles and inconsistent service areas can confuse customers even when the website itself is correct.
