FAQ Pages for Business Websites

An FAQ page is useful when real questions cut across several pages or need a stable support reference. It is weak when it exists only for keywords, repeats marketing copy or accumulates answers nobody owns.

An FAQ page is useful when real questions cut across several pages or need a stable support reference. It is weak when it exists only for keywords, repeats marketing copy or accumulates answers nobody owns.

In brief: Build FAQs from evidence and route detailed questions to authoritative pages.

Choose questions from real sources

  • Sales and support conversations.
  • Search queries and site search.
  • Form abandonment and booking errors.
  • Returns, delivery and cancellation cases.
  • Staff questions that reveal inconsistent answers.
  • Accessibility and alternative-format requests.

Write answers for action

Answer pattern

Direct answer
Resolve the question in the first sentence
Conditions
Explain where the answer changes
Next step
Link to the relevant service, policy or process
Owner/date
Make review responsibility visible internally

Do not rely on rich-result promises

Visible, useful FAQ content can help users, but structured data does not guarantee a special Google result. Google removed the FAQ rich-result feature from Search in 2026, so the page must justify itself as user support rather than search-result decoration.

Test the outcome

Remove duplicate questions, test links, verify legal or price-sensitive answers and confirm that each answer is consistent with the source policy or service page.

Where businesses get caught out

FAQ pages often grow without governance. Old questions remain after policies change, several answers conflict and the page becomes a substitute for fixing unclear service content. Generated questions that customers never ask add length but no support value.

Operational records

  • Question source and frequency
  • Authoritative policy or service owner
  • Last-checked date
  • Destination page for detailed guidance
  • Removal or merge decisions

First implementation step

Export the current questions and label each as real, duplicated, outdated or unsupported. Keep only questions with evidence of demand and a responsible answer owner.

Sources and date checked

Keep the decision under your control

Retain the relevant accounts, source material, supplier terms and recovery information. Recheck changing prices, interfaces and rules before acting.
